Growth Church x Tony Thrifts

Growth is inconvenient, uncomfortable, and intolerable if we're being honest. I've experienced growth the most in this season of life, and it's been the most challenging season yet. So, it's funny that this opportunity came from Growth Church, allowing me to channel some of this energy through this project constructively. Pastor Tim. from Growth Church commissioned me to do a t-shirt for the church that was unique and stylish but also came with a message. The only quote that kept ringing in my spirit during the design process was, "Life is about Growth." Like a mantra alarm set on repeat, this quote kept ringing in my mind, so I embraced it instead of avoiding such a cliche phrase. The idea of growth seems so easy and effortless, but often we forget the pain associated with it that's naturally a part of the process. The challenges can seem significant, and we can even become engulfed if we let our minds drift away, but through time, we grow, learn and eventually take flight.

The front of the t-shirt has a graphic of a small butterfly nestled in between the words "Life is about Growth." On the back of the t-shirt, we see the growth of the butterfly as it takes flight into the next season. Underneath the graphic, I wanted to have a scripture to remind myself about the beauty of growth.

"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen." 2 Peter 3:18

Pastor Tim and I will release this t-shirt at a pop-up at Growth Church on August 21st, with service starting at 11 am. If you have never been to Growth, stop by for a word and leave with a tee.
